Zappos

I absolutely love Zappos.com! I’ve order two pairs of shoes from them–always selected regular shipping, but they have always been accelerated to express overnight!!  I ordered the Badgley Mischka Randee heels and they just came in!

This is how fast Zappos works.

I ordered the shoes at 11:30 p.m.

Billing information sent to Zappos at 1:30 a.m.

2:05 a.m. the order was originated

3:50 a.m. the order left Kentucky

5:34 a.m. the order arrived in New Jersey

6:45 a.m. my alarm clock went off

7:40 a.m. the shoes were on the UPS truck headed to our house for delivery!

8:00 a.m. I checked my email and found out that my order had been RUSHED and my shoes were already in my town!!

Yeah, I love Zappos!!! I was so surprised!

Once the package arrived I slipped on my new shoes. They were beautiful! But VERY high. The highest shoes that I had ever worn. I have no clue why I thought I could walk in them, really, I am totally fooling myself.

So YES Zappos! And YES on their return policy. Even though I thought these shoes were the one my logical side has stepped in. With Zappos you can return shoes 24/7 within 365 days of your order. So I just had a quick conversation with the representative returning my beautiful Randall shoes <<sniff>> but shipping them back is free, and was totally painless.

The good news: I found similar Badgley Mischka shoes but with a lower heel. They will be exchanging my Randalls for these, the Raquels!

Here, take a look at the new shoes that make my heart pitter patter. I think I will swoon for them as well as actually walk in them!!

My Dream Shoes…in 5 to 7 Days!!

Image from Nordstroms.

I just purchased my dream shoes–the Badgley Mischka Randee! Ever since I saw them back in January I was in love. When I went back to try them on at Nordstroms–where they originally caught my eye–they were gone

But today I was walking past Wink on Broadway and 69th Street, and I saw the familiar ruffles that I had seen nowhere else until then.

They were black, but those petals hung like full bloom ranunculus.

I tried on the size 9 and 10 at Wink.

The size 9 fit well in length but it felt a bit snug at the ball of the foot. The 10 was a little long and you could see the gold tag sticking out beneath the heel of my foot. I am not crazy about that!

So I went home and went to Nordstroms to see if they had them online. Nope! Now removed from their site. I then went to Zappos.com. They had them in white, antique gold, blush, and black. Originally I swooned over them in the antique gold but then I started thinking that the white would make me feel really elegant. But how wearable after would they be. My guess was not that much, don’t get me wrong–I could still rock em. But antique gold would be much more versatile.

Do I want to be versatile on my wedding day? Can I not just buy shoes that went with the dress. That doesn’t seem like that big of a thing. Just get the shoes that go with the dress! This was my internal dialogue. So needles to say I had a bit of a hard time deciding between white and antique gold when it was time to put them into the cart. Ultimately I decided to go with what I originally saw–what made my heart go pitter patter in the first place.

This is the theme of my wedding planning–just go with your gut! Take the option that was your first instinct.

@Wink...Why not in my size!! Bummer. I'll have to go next door to Magnolia's Cupcakes for a little treat to soothe the pain 😉

So that is how I got from shoe lover to shoe buyer. But what made today the day that I bought them. This photoshoot from Style Me Pretty of a California bride in Napa Valley at the Canaros Inn. Her shoes are inspired by the Randee Badgley Mischa. Her wedding totally encapsulates my loves. It is romantic, laid back, elegant, naturally Californian. I saw her shoes and said “I am still in love!” So when today again they were featured in the window that I pass by day after day it was fate. I knew it was a sign! It was time for me to say ‘I Do’ to these shoes. It has been way too many months since I first fell in love.

This is my shoe love story…now let’s just hope I can wear them in my gown without tripping!

#9 Cole Haan Ceci Air Rose Slingback

I love Cole Haan’s new bridal line. It is very fresh, very spring. Check out the Ceci with rosettes running up and down the length of the slingback. Italian silk and leather, a perfect 4″ heel, and padded foot will make you rejoice. For the price –a heft $400+–its Nike Air technology better make you feel as if you are floating to the alter!

#8 Kate Spade Genny Pump

I must have these shoes! They are flirty, they are fun. They are sassy, they are sweet. It is almost a sign as Valentine’s Day has past. Maybe just because love is in the air. Well, for some reason I am itching for them. Yes, I must have these Kate Spade Love Pumps! Okay, that isn’t their official name but I have been calling them “The Love Shoes I am in love with!” Maybe a little bit bold for my soft champagne colored wedding dress, but perhaps perfect for the rehearsal dinner.

Shoe #7
Nina’s Critia in Ivory

Nina shoes are everywhere. And for a good reason. They are perfectly appropriate for all special occasions. Check out this pair of ivory heels. They would be perfect for an ultra-feminine bride who wants a little more flower -power. With a 3.5 heel hight they are a comfortable option, and at $99 not to badly priced. One note: do not wear with a sheath gown. You must be flowy, with lots of room underneath your gown to rock these. Or else it may look a little bulky.

#5 Badgley Mischka’s Randee High Heel Ruffle Sandals

Last week I met my favorite shoes yet at the department store. I went by, did a double-take, looped back around, picked them up, held them, and then thought: “Yeah, I like you!” After this I couldn’t help but exclaim, “I found shoes I like, I just need a dress!” They come in three colors, two of which are perfectly bridal appropriate: champagne and blush. Did I mention that I like these a lot…

#3 Le Jardin

This are just perfect for an elegant garden wedding. Crystals, clean white stain, one could not (must not) get stuck in the mud! Perhaps a courtyard, garden-theme wedding. I hope to incorporate lots of flowers and nature into my day. These shoes would be great. But maybe just a little too white for me…

#3 Sparkly Slingback

These Kate Spade shoes have a glamorous feel. Something Mae West would try on to compliment her robe as she rested between scenes smoking a cigarette in a long, polished holder.

I am trying to draw in a vintage, art deco feeling for my wedding and while they are not quite out of the 1920s & 1930s they still look grand. The structured bow and use of gold and silver make it feel as if it is retro but still modern, cute but not cutesy. Yeah, this could work…

#2 Sweet Studs

There is nothing more feminine than the combination of soft and hard.  The materials in these shoes scream romance. As if exclaiming: “Touch me, if you dare!” On a practical note, I always favor platforms because they are so much easier to walk in (less of a risk of tripping down the alter).
